What we actually do
Most phones have several cameras and they fail independently. A rear wide that will not focus and a front camera that shows black are different parts and different jobs.
The cracked piece is often the lens cover rather than the camera itself — a much smaller repair. That is the first thing we establish.
Open the camera app before you come and note exactly which lens misbehaves — front, wide, ultrawide, or the zoom. It saves us both time at the counter.
Signs it is the camera
- Will not focus, or hunts back and forth
- The preview is black or frozen
- Visible shaking or a rattle when you move it
- Blurry only on one of the lenses
- Spots or haze on every photo
- The lens glass is chipped or cracked
Worth fixing, or not?
Usually yes, and often it is the lens cover rather than the module, which makes it one of the smaller repairs on the list.
